Community Health Fair

28th Annual Community Health Fair

"Getting Healthy by Leaps and Bounds " is the theme of this year's Community Health Fair. The event will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, 2013 from 9am to 1pm. Admission is free. Everyone is invited to attend.

More than 60 organizations will have displays and/or offering health screenings. Guests at the fair will learn new and innovative approaches to wellness. Entertainment for all ages is scheduled throughout the day.

Health Screenings are always popular at the fair. Many screenings will be offered, including: blood glucose, body fat, mental health, oxygen levels, blood pressure, cholesterol ($5), oral cancer, skin cancer, blood typing, hemoglobin ($1) pH testing and spine and stress will be available. All screenings except the Hemoglobin ($1) and Cholesterol ($5) will be free of charge.

The American Red Cross is conducting a Blood Drive from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Lincoln/Logan Crimestoppers will be fingerprinting children also from 9:00am to 12 noon.

A food drive will be held for non-perishable items for distribution to area food banks.

Home radon testing kits will be offered for $5.

Do you have recyclable items in your home? The 2013 Community Health Fair will not only provide health screenings and health exhibits, but also a chance for you and your family to bring in recyclable items. Below is a list of items that will be accepted.

  • Cell Phones
  • Container Glass (glass that has contained food or beverages; colored glass is acceptable. Plastic and metal bands must be removed, but labels may remain.)
  • Eyeglasses
  • Hearing Aids
  • Medications
  • Plastic Bags
  • Printer Cartridges
  • Pop Tabs from Aluminum Cans

State Bank of Lincoln is sponsoring free shredding of confidential papers as well as Hard Drive destruction from 9:00am to 12 noon. There will also be a glass collection at this same time.

The paper shredding and glass collection will be held in the front parking lot of Lincoln High School.

The Community Health Fair is co-sponsored by the Lincoln Park District and the Logan County Department of Public Health.
